BRCA testing in Asian ovarian cancer patients: Standard clinical practice or Mutation prediction model?

Germline BRCA1/2 testing is recommended for all patients with ovarian cancer, as identifying pathogenic variants (PV) informs treatment and enables family cascade testing. However, in resource-limited settings, high testing costs often limit feasibility. An alternative approach is to use predictive models to prioritize patients at risk, optimizing resource allocation. Existing models are largely Western-derived; in Asian populations, models exist for breast cancer—not ovarian cancer.

Allergic Rhinitis and Its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)-EAACI Guidelines—2024–2025 Revision: Part II—Guidelines on Oral and Ocular Treatments

Oral and ocular medications are frequently used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR). As part of the update of the Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)-EAACI guidelines, this manuscript presents the ARIA-EAACI 2024–2025 recommendations for oral and ocular treatments.

Duration of analgesia and factors associated with block failure in ultrasound-guided ankle and popliteal/saphenous nerve blocks in elective foot and ankle surgery: A prospective observational study

Regional anaesthesia is central to perioperative analgesia in foot and ankle surgery. Ultrasound-guided ankle and popliteal/saphenous nerve blocks are widely used, yet real-world evidence on their duration of action and factors associated with block failure is limited. This study aimed to document the duration of postoperative analgesia achieved with levobupivacaine ankle and popliteal/saphenous blocks and to explore contributors to failed or incomplete blocks.

Allergic Rhinitis and Its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)-EAACI Guidelines—2024–2025 Revision: Part I—Guidelines on Intranasal Treatments

Allergic rhinitis (AR) impacts quality of life, work and school productivity. Over the last years, an important body of evidence resulting from mHealth data has led to a better understanding of AR. Such advances have motivated an EAACI-endorsed update of the Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) guidelines (ARIA 2024–2025). This manuscript presents the ARIA 2024–2025 recommendations for intranasal treatments, one of the mainstays for AR management.

Real-world use of and clinical outcomes with dacomitinib as first-line therapy in Asian patients with EGFR mutation–positive locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer: Final analysis of the ARIA study

Dacomitinib, a second-generation, irreversible tyrosine kinase inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), showed statistically significant progression-free survival improvement over gefitinib in patients with treatment-naive EGFR mutation–positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the phase 3 ARCHER 1050 study (NCT01774721). We report results from the final analysis of ARIA (NCT04609319), a noninterventional study of dacomitinib’s real-world utilization and associated clinical outcomes in Asian patients with EGFR mutation–positive advanced NSCLC.

Development and validation of a dual language needs assessment tool for people living with colorectal cancer (NeAT-CC)

Needs assessment tools may guide optimization of clinical services to be more patient-centered. As needs of patients living with and beyond colorectal cancer (CRC) may also be influenced by socio-cultural backgrounds and healthcare ecosystems, we developed and validated a needs assessment questionnaire for CRC in a multi-ethnic, low-and middle-income setting.

Consensus statements on perinatal depression and anxiety in the Asia-Pacific region

The perinatal period, from conception to one year postpartum, is a time of major physical and emotional change, with heightened risk for mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression—particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Poor maternal mental health during this phase can lead to obstetric complications and adversely affect child development and neurodevelopment.

Association Between Electrocardiographic Changes and Myocardial Injury or Death After Cardiac Surgery

The relationship between myocardial injury after cardiac surgery (MICS), ischemia on electrocardiogram (ECG), and mortality is uncertain. In this study we aimed to determine whether potential ischemic ECG changes after cardiac surgery are associated with 30-day mortality.

Exploratory biomarker analysis in the phase III L-MOCA study of olaparib maintenance therapy in patients with platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer

The prospective phase III multi-centre L-MOCA trial (NCT03534453) has demonstrated the encouraging efficacy and manageable safety profile of olaparib maintenance therapy in the Asian (mainly Chinese) patients with platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer (PSROC). In this study, we report the preplanned exploratory biomarker analysis of the L-MOCA trial, which investigated the effects of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression on olaparib efficacy.

I would like to be a part of tomorrow's breakthrough

Clinical trials are part of research studies involving patient volunteers that are conducted to find safe and effective treatments for a variety of health conditions. They are critical to the advancement of medicine and improving patient health. Participating in clinical trials offers patients the opportunity to try new and effective treatments that could potentially improve their condition while taking part in vital research that can benefit many future patients.

In Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, clinical trials are carried out under our Clinical Research team.

If you would like to participate in any of our clinical trials or would like to know, please provide your information below and we will be in touch with you:
