General Surgery

General surgery, as in its name, is an all-encompassing specialty that focuses on surgical treatment and management of a wide variety of conditions affecting various organs and systems within the body. This includes the digestive tract, abdominal contents (such as stomach, small intestine, liver, gallbladder and colon), skin, breast, and soft tissues, endocrine system, and trauma and critical care, to name a few.

General surgeons are skilled in a broad yet very specialized training in all disciplines of surgery and medicine with knowledge that comprises the entire surgical process from initial diagnosis and consultation, preoperative preparation, operative and postoperative care and management.

General surgeons are trained to perform procedures ranging from routine procedures like appendectomies and hernia repairs to more complex surgeries such as gastrointestinal surgeries and removal of tumours. General surgeons are also involved in emergency and trauma surgery, addressing injuries or conditions that require immediate attention. Through this process, our general surgery team may find necessity in collaborating with our other specialists to provide a well-rounded comprehensive patient consultation and care.

At Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, we have consultants whose expertise are in Abdominal Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Upper GIT Surgery, and Vascular Surgery.
